In this new society, it will be crucial for the citizens to understand how to learn, for learning is the only way we can grow and move forward. There are possibly many definitions of learning; however, my definition is more than sufficient.
Learning is the search, acquisition and/or application of knowledge; whether through experience or by the teachings of others.
My definition is most desirable because it is broad, but not vague. It allows for learning and growth to come from sources outside oneself, but defines learning as something achievable. The very thing that is so imperative for a civilization and its development should be something that is not difficult to attain, no matter the complexity. Thus, learning is a search, and an acquisition, and an application; either all simultaneously or separately. Each of these demonstrates a different level of learning, though it is important to acknowledge that none of these levels is more necessary or of greater value than the others.
